Recycling under the Bermudan Sun.

In 2018, during a residency of three months in Bermuda,at Hamilton’s Masterworks residency, Marie-Denise Douyon explores new materials. Collecting debris, discharges and waste of the sea, the artist created a series of works, inspired by the nature of the island and its inhabitants.

While living in Bermuda, she becomes friend with a Bermudian woman, who will pose as her model. Douyon creates a series of oil and turpentine-based portrait of her new friend.

The artworks made during this time reveal a bright palette ranging from royal blues to turquoise shimmers. One of her portraits is part of the Masterwork Museum collection.
